As of June 1, Sachiko Murakami will be taking over organizing, booking and hosting Pivot at the Press Club, as Carey Toane continues on to other adventures south of the border.
Those of you who had the opportunity to hear Sachiko read at Pivot in May will know that she is a talented writer, a seasoned reading host in her own right – and a downright quality person.
A bit more about Sachiko:
Sachiko Murakami’s first collection of poetry, The Invisibility Exhibit (Talonbooks 2008), was a finalist for the Governor General’s Award for Poetry and the Gerald Lampert Memorial Award. She has been a literary worker for numerous journals and organizations, run reading series in Vancouver and Montreal, and is a past member of the Kootenay School of Writing collective. Her second poetry collection is forthcoming with Talonbooks.
Thanks for nearly two years of good literary fun.
Love,
Carey
