Pivot’s mandate is to support the best of poetry and prose writers, both established and emerging, from Toronto and beyond. Spoken word, performance art and other genres are well represented elsewhere in the city.
Pivot hosts three readers a night, with no open mic. Occasional four-reader nights are usually the product of traveling authors and one-night-only show possibilities.
We are not currently funded other than via a PWYC collection which is split evenly amongst the three readers. We regret we cannot offer to cover travel costs.
Requests to read at Pivot may be directed to Jacob McArthur Mooney at pivot.readings[at]gmail[dot]com – or better yet, come down to the venue, stay for the event and introduce yourself. If you’re a new or unpublished writer, please include a sample of your work. If you are an author or publicist and have a new book to promote, please provide details including the title, publisher and timeline for publication. Unfortunately, we receive far more requests to read than we can accommodate!
